Mrs. Wilmot

Meet Mrs. Wilmot My name is Valerie Wilmot. I am an Arizona native, born and raised in Phoenix, and a product of Phoenix public schools. I knew I wanted to be a teacher by the time I was five, but had many inspiring teachers over the years that reinforced my goal further. I have now worked in education for nearly twenty years and I have taught everything from preschool to special education adults; I have taught homebound students, incarcerated youth, distance learning, and traditional students, and even taught English in Poland through a special two-week program. I am AVID, IB, Gifted, and Holocaust certified as an educator. I received my B.S. in English and Secondary Education and my M.A. in Gifted Education from GCU. Go Lopes! For the last 10+ years I taught 8th grade gifted, honors and IB English in Mesa. Additionally, I was the IB MYP Coordinator for a school from consultancy through full authorization. When the door opened and offered the opportunity to be the IB Coordinator for THE Kyrene Middle School, I was very excited to join this wonderful team of staff and students. When I am not working I am enjoying time with my family - I have a wonderful husband, two adult daughters, and a bonus daughter - and friends, taking care of our animals (we have two dogs, two snakes, a hamster, and a Sulcata tortoise at home), or I am reading, watching baseball, or camping. |
