Andrew Shapiro

Mr. Shapiro is excited to serve as an Academic and Behavioral Specialist at THE Kyrene Middle School. He began teaching at THE Kyrene Middle School in 2009 and has been an educator for nearly two decades. During his time at KMS, he has taught 6th and 7th grade Individuals & Societies, and Audio Design. In addition to the classroom, he has served as the school’s Technology Integration Site Lead, Esports Coach, and has led professional learning focused on the effective use of artificial intelligence in education.

Mr. Shapiro earned his Bachelor of Science in Secondary Education from Arizona State University. Throughout his career, he has been passionate about building positive relationships with students while creating engaging learning experiences that combine technology, creativity, and innovation. He believes that every student deserves to feel supported, challenged, and connected, and is committed to helping students grow both academically and personally.

Mr. Shapiro is the proud grandfather of an amazing grandson. Outside of school, he enjoys playing bass guitar, discovering new music, and exploring emerging technologies, especially the ways artificial intelligence can enhance teaching and learning. He is honored to continue serving the KMS community in his new role and looks forward to supporting students, staff, and families throughout the school year.
